内容簡介：

Stroke is the third leading cause of death and disability in the Western society and is fast becoming one of the top killers in China. However, apart from thrombolytic tPA, there is no effective therapeutics to protect stroke-induced brain damage.Our research has been focused on repositioning drugs targeting NMDA receptors and neurite outgrowth inhibitory factors in stroke brain.

報告人簡介：

    侯聖陶教授現為加拿大國家研究院生物科學研究所腦血管研究組組長。侯教授于1991-1996先後在英國倫敦大學神經病理系和英國布裡斯托大學生物化學系從事博士後的研究工作，其間獲得了英國醫學研究委員會博士後獎學金和英國生物技術和工程委員會博士後獎學金。   

    侯教授近十年來主要從事神經細胞凋亡機制及卒中治療研究。自1996年起主持10多項包括加拿大國家科學院和加拿大心髒及中風基金會的項目。2000年起參與并主持了加拿大國家科學院的Health and Genomics Initiatives項目 (二百五十萬加元)。 獲得過多項英國和加拿大研究組織獎勵和資助，并在SCI收錄的雜志上共發表近70篇論文，其中包括重要核心雜志J Clin Invest，J. Neurosci ， J. Biol. Chem.， Mol Cell Biol等。另外，2項成果申請美國專利。
