報告人簡介:
The research of Dr. Cornelia H. de Moor focuses on post-transcriptional gene regulation of mRNA and protein expression, especially by sequences downstream of the stop codon of the protein coding region. This type of gene regulation is much more common than previously thought, and includes modulation of mRNA stability, translational control, mRNA localisation and changes in nuclear polyadenylation. The regulation is generally mediated by RNA binding proteins, microRNAs and/or polyadenylation and deadenylation. They study these processes in cell lines during cell adhesion and proliferation, during the inflammatory response and in human embryonic stem cells and the work has potential applications in the treatment of inflammatory diseases, cancer and regenerative medicine.
報告内容簡介: Cordycepin (3’ deoxyadenosine) is reputed to be the active ingredient of the caterpillar fungi, which are highly prized in Chinese traditional medicine. It has been shown to have a large number of biological effects, including inhibition of cell proliferation, promotion of apoptosis, inhibition of the inflammatory response and inhibition of trypanosome proliferation. Its mechanism of action has been implicated in the literature, as activation of the adenosine receptor, inhibition of methyltransferases and inhibition of mRNA polyadenylation by chain termination have been.
