摘 要：GPCR are the most important receptors in cardiovascular physiology and pathology and the target of many cardiovascular drugs. In our investigation of the agents regulating proteoglycan synthesis in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC) we have investigated various GPCR agonists. Cultured VSMCS respond poorly to angiotensin II so we have concentrated on thrombin and endothelin‑1. Thrombin and endothelin‑1 stimulate proteoglycan synthesis in VSMCs and we have described the relevant signaling pathways. In very recent work we have discovered a new GPCR signaling pathway whose impact almost certainly extends beyond proteoglycan synthesis and initial data will be presented on this novel pathway.

Peter J Little教授是世界知名的心髒和糖尿病專家，就職于國際知名的科研機構——澳大利亞墨爾本Baker IDI心髒和糖尿病研究所，現任澳大利亞生物脈管學會會長和Diabetes and Cell Biology實驗室主任，是澳大利亞心髒科學和糖尿病學科的學科帶頭人，澳大利亞Monash University榮譽教授及Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University兼職教授，他緻力于促進心髒科學心血管藥物研究等方面的發展,為此作出了重要貢獻并在澳大利亞及世界上獲得多種獎項。現擔任“nutrition”等多家國際知名雜志編輯和審稿人，撰寫多篇高影響因子的論文發表于circulation， J Biol Chem， Cell Mol Life Sci， J Cell Mol Med， Atherosclerosis， Curr Opin Lipidol，等高水平雜志上。
