Laboratory Equipment

The School was relocated from the South Campus the new building on East Campus of SYSU on July, 2008. The lab space was increased from 2,300 m2 to 13,000 m2, and the basic research condition was dramatically upgraded. Now, the general lab layout has been constructed which includes public laboratory system and several specialized laboratories.

The Central Laboratory is responsible for the general lab layout, and manages the large-scale instruments, Bio-safety Laboratory, Radioisotopic Laboratory, Molecular Biology Public Laboratory, and Fine Chemical Engineering Pilot Scale Laboratory with the help of network information management. Until 2012, the amount of large-scale instruments is up to 135 suites, and the total assets run up to 65 million dollars, including 400MHz NMR, High Content Screening System (HCS), Laser Scanning Confocal Microscope, High-Resolution HPLC-MS, Preparative HPLC, Isothermal Titration Calorimetry (ITC), IR/UV-VIS/CD, X-ray Single Crystal Diffractometer for Macromolecules, Liquid Scintillation Counter, Microwave Synthesizer, High pressure homogenizers, Supercritical Fluid Extraction Equipment etc. All of the instruments are standardized administered by online booking and real-time monitoring.

Apart from the general lab, eleven specialized laboratories, including Medicinal Chemistry Lab, Pharmacology Lab, Pharmaceutical Lab etc, were also built with advanced facilities, like central water supply system, gas treating system, central gas supply system for air and N2, security system, compartment of experimental space and office.
