The Microbial and Biochemical Pharmacy Laboratory was founded by Professor Jun Du in 2004. The major research interests of the lab include investigating the mechanisms of tumor invasion and metastasis, developing targeted drugs to break the tumor immune tolerance. The team has several years experience about the gene expression regulation and gene knockdown or knockout experiments.

Major research interests
(1) Molecular mechanism of tumor immune tolerance;
(2) Mechanism of tumor metastasis;
(3) Tumor vaccine and tumor targeted drugs.

Team members
The team is made up of two full professors, one associate professor, one assistant professor, one post-doctorial fellow, six PhD students, and eleven MS students.

Facilities
The team can access six labs: cell culture lab,biological safety lab level-2, microbiological lab, flow cytometry lab, molecular biology lab, protein function analysis lab. These labs are equipped with living image system, high speed centrifuge, quantitative PCR system, gel imaging system, microplate reader, cell incubator. The labs can conduct most of molecular biology experiments, living image of tumor invasion, antibacterial drug screening, and protein purification.

Achievements
The team has been funded with a number of projects including one National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program), one National hi-tech project Program of China (863 Program), five National Science Foundation projects, one SKLMP Seed Collaborative Research Fund of Hong Kong, two Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Projects, one Chinese Postdoctoral Science Foundation project, and three Breeding Projects for Young Scientists of SYSU.  The total foundation exceeded 5 million RMB. In the last 5 years, we published more than 30 peer-review paper on journals such as Cancer ResJ Med ChemFree Radical Bio MedEnviron Int. Furthermore, we have more than 10 authorized patents.

Technical Services
(1) Vector construction, recombinant protein purification;
(2) Immunohistochemistry;
(3) Cell Culture, cell apoptosis;
(4) Experimental animals living imaging.

Research team of Structural Pharmacology was founded by Prof. HU Xiaopeng in 2008.The team focuses on structural biology and its application in drug development. Currently the team members are Prof. HU Xiaopeng and Prof. LUO Haibin, both have advanced degrees, trainings and extensive experiences in X-ray crystallography, structural biology and computer-aided drug design. The team research covers a wide range of issues related to drug target structure, and aims to provide theoretical understanding of drug-target interactions and relevant information for novel drug development. The team has authored or co-authored more than 40 publications on world famous journals such as FEBS Letter, ChemMedChem, Bioorg Med Chem Lett.Bioorg Med Chem.Biophys Chem. Molecular CellEmbo J,Cell, J. Med. Chem. etc.
