Director: Professor Peiqing Liu

Areas of Study:
The laboratory is dedicated to establish modern technology platform for druggability evaluation and preclinical assessment for small molecule drug candidates, including: pharmacodynamic evaluation and screening techniques integrating gene chips and bioinformatics; evaluation models based on molecular imaging and probes for pharmacodynamic evaluation of targeted medicines; new assays and methods for pharmacokinetic prediction of lead compounds; novel models for toxicity & pharmacodynamic evaluation.
The laboratory consists of an academic committee and implemented PI team system. There are 12 professors, 9 associate professors, 6 lecturers and more than 8 technical staffs in the team system. More talents and experts will be recruited through the “One Hundred Talents Program of SYSU”. Additionally, a large number of PhD students and MS students are trained in the laboratory.

Core Facilities:
The total area for the laboratory is 5,000 m2. The laboratory is equipped with advanced large instruments, including X-ray crystal diffractometer, High throughput screening system, High content screening system, SEQUENOM MassArray system, LC/MS, Automatic biochemical analyzer, NMR, ect. The laboratory has established a research platform to fulfill the requirements of drug design and synthesis, verification of new targets, screening of bioactive compounds, pharmacodynamic & toxicity evaluation and pharmacokinetic investigation.

Main Goals:
The laboratory is aimed to establish a technology platform for druggability evaluation and preclinical assessment for small molecule drug candidates, which can provide technical services of druggability evaluation and assessment, including target-based screening, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic evaluation, as well as toxicological assessment.
