In contrast, other commonly used non-viral transfection methods rely on cell division for the transfer of DNA into the nucleus. Thus, nucleofection provides the ability to transfect even non-dividing cells, such as neurons and resting blood cells. Due to the nuclear DNA delivery the expression of the transfected construct starts very shortly post nucleofection. In unstimulated human T cells for example, the GFP reporter protein can be detected as soon as 40 minutes post Nucleofection. Nucleofection of siRNA and DNA/RNA oligos is particularly efficient (up to 99% in some cell lines) too. Now a new 96-well Shuttle High Throughput Transfection System comes true.
