A Million Monkeys (lyric)
a million monkeys -- spreading
all across the land a million souls -- packing in like grains of sand Monkey sees, monkey hears, monkey says just Revolving and devolving, but is there truly an evolving? Monkeys Monkeys Everywhere we turn Monkeys monkeys You'd think that we would learn a million times -- lying we try and try to quit a million kinds -- buying into more and more bad habits Monkey hears, monkey says, monkey sees not resolving just dissolving, but is there really no absolving? Monkeys monkeys busy making monkeyshines Monkeys monkeys busy wasting monkeytime a million monkeys -- crawling all across your back a million times -- falling again knocked off the track Monkey says, monkey sees, monkey hears not evolving, just revolving, in a madness we're not solving! Monkeys Monkeys how often isn't it we're just monkeys monkeys we're just monkeys flinging shit? Monkey See Monkey Hear Monkey Say oooh ooh ooooh ah ah ahhhh ©2010 Keith Luedke Music (ASCAP). All Rights Reserved Today, it *feels* Infinite
I had no idea there was so much "non-musical" work involved in spinning up a web presence. I look across the room at my Les Paul (hear that sustain?) just waiting patiently, among the rest of the 'gear crew'.
It feels like an infinite amount of work to get the plumbing done, just to get back to the business of making racket. I see the fan base shrinking and growing, making me all the more anxious to keep the "production" side healthy and vibrant. Each time someone leaves, it stings a little, as I were not moving at Light Speed enough. I guess I just wish everyone were like my Les Paul, with all that sustain…all that patience. This is an organic process, and is growing constantly…into what, I can only imagine. And that is the beauty of it! "Come with me and you'll be in a world of pure imagination" The Infinite Monkey Theorum
Part 1: Innovation
"Given enough time, an hypothetical monkey typing at random would, as part of its output, almost surely produce all of Shakespeare's plays." So, if a million monkeys were busy at random "work", eventually they would accidentally reproduce the great Art of our species. Its like saying "You are more likely to be struck by lightning 6 times than win the lottery." The odds are infinitely small, yet we see it happen on an ongoing, regular basis. Poor guy. I would have ducked under something after maybe the 3rd one. I took this concept to heart, after many years of vigilant study and research, discipline practice, "honing the craft" of writing and playing. Not like a monkey randomly banging away at a piano. The joke is that I could get a bunch of monkeys together to jam, and it would sound every bit as good as a much of it we hear every day. Maybe not 'better' necessarily, but overall, would have a 'sameness' to it. More of the same. The Infinite Monkey Theorum does not impart any innovation. Monkeys make it happen by accident. And even though the probability is stupid-low, they STILL only emulate that which is already been done. No innovation. My vision, in part, lies in adding a 'human condition' to the Million Monkeys. What if, by adding a human element to the mix, it *does* impart a creative spark to innovate? That means the monkeys, by pure accident, produce something great and new Innovation |
